In Exodus 16 the Israelites were instructed exactly how and when to collect the manna from the ground. Those who collected little had enough, and those who collected more had just the right amount. However, they were instructed not to leave any until the next day. They did anyway, and it stunk and bred worms. They were also instructed to collect double on the day before the Sabbath, since there would be none on the Sabbath. They still went looking for it anyway.

What struck me is how we often fail in the simple things. We are careful to investigate, to research, to strategize, to be more careful, when the task or instructions are challenging or over our heads. But seemingly, we ignore the obvious, and sidestep the instructions when the task seems simple enough for us to handle. Why is that? Is it because we believe that we can manipulate the simple, but have to keep to the instructions on that which is complex and we don't have enough knowledge about? Is it because the simple doesn't demand much, so we take it for granted, but the complex requires much more dependence on carefully following the instructions?

Sometimes, God may just be testing you to see what is in your hearts and where your loyalties lie. Whatever God is calling or pointed out and have given you the instructions on what and when to do, simple or complex, obedience is the key.  Choose obedience

Blessings!
